These miners went on strike against the Brookside Mine owned by Eastover Mining in June, 1973. This film shows how the miners fought back. Because Eastover didn't sign a contract when the miners joined the United Mine Workers of America, the strike started. The fights between the miners and the company's thugs/scabs were violent and lasted for more than a year. It helps us understand the strike by giving us some background on the history of miners and the UMWA.
