Grandview, U.S.A.

The small town of Grandview, Illinois, has a way of life that is similar to that of any other city or town in the United States. Tim Pearson, who will shortly be graduating from high school, wishes to pursue a degree in oceanography in Florida. During his travels, he encounters Michelle "Mike" Cody, whom he finds attractive. She is the owner and operator of the local Demolition Derby facility. It is revealed that one of the drivers in the derby, Ernie "Slam" Webster, has an unfaithful wife who wishes to spend the rest of her life with Mike. Tim finds himself attracted to Mike, setting the stage for a major love triangle.
