Mike is a loner: he has no close friends, no interests outside of work, and no romantic interest. Only Tschick, the new kid at school who appears to have been in many fights and has an unfortunate proclivity for inebriation, changes his mind. With no parents, no maps, and no plan, Tschick comes up at Mike's door with a stolen automobile at the beginning of summer break, and the two embark on a journey of a lifetime.
