Using two accomplices, Ray, an ex-convict and widower, plans a coin theft to raise funds to purchase a bakery. However, he does not anticipate his son Timmy, who was previously living with Ray's sister, showing up at the house in the middle of the planning process. Timmy is completely disregarded, and Ray and his associates successfully complete the theft. Timmy attracts his father's attention by stealing and concealing the coins. He must be taken to a variety of various locations by his father, who must treat him as though he is enjoying his company in order to regain custody of his children. However, Timmy will not stay with his father unless he gives up the coins, which he refuses to do.
