There are many signs that Solange is depressed: She doesn't smile anymore, she eats very little, and she says less. She faints. He wants to save her by having Stephane, a stranger, be her lover. Raoul wants to do this to save her. Stephane listens to Mozart and has every Pocket Book in alphabetical order, but he doesn't seem to be able to cheer Solange up. She likes to make things by hand. It is her job to clean. They all agree that she needs to have a child, but she can't get pregnant with either of her lovers. In the summer, the three work at a summer camp for kids. They meet Christian, the precocious 13-year-old son of the manager of the local factory where they work. When Solange is happy again, it is Christian who brings her back.
