After crossing the border illegally to find work, Miguel, a hard-working father and devoted husband, is wrongly accused of killing a former sheriff's wife. When Miguel's pregnant wife finds out he is in jail, she tries to help him but ends up in the hands of corrupt coyotes who hold her for ransom. Unhappy with the police department's investigation, the former sheriff tries to find out the truth about his wife's death on his own. He finds disturbing evidence that will destroy one family's future and tear another apart.
