Fort Apache
John Ford's sad look at the mythology of American heroes slowly reveals the character of Owen Thursday, who sees his new assignment to the empty Fort Apache as a chance to get the military honor he thinks is rightfully his. Thursday, who is arrogant, obsessed with military form, and ultimately self-destructive, tries to kill Apache chief Cochise after luring him across the border from Mexico against the advice of his subordinates.
