Two years have elapsed since the conclusion of the conflict with Sephiroth. In spite of the fact that Midgar, the city of mako and the city of prosperity, has been reduced to ruins, the inhabitants of Midgar are slowly but surely walking the road to rebuilding. Nevertheless, they are tormented by a mystery illness known as Geostigma. Because there is no treatment in sight, it causes death to strike those who are sick one at a time, robbing the people of their nascent hope.
