El analfabeto
A letter informing Inocencio Prieto y Calvo that he is the inheritor of his uncle's two million peso inheritance is delivered to him. He is unable to read, therefore he is unaware of the sender or the letter's contents. He then makes his way to the pharmacy so that the pharmacist can read the letter to him. However, as he waits to be assisted, he notices that a small girl can read. He decides to save the letter, go to school, and wait to read it on his own because he believes he must be able to ascertain the letter's contents on his own.
