Selma, a Czech immigrant on the edge of blindness, is struggling to make ends meet for herself and her son, who has inherited the same genetic condition and would perish unless a costly treatment is performed. Selma learns to deal when life becomes too stressful through her love of musicals, escape life's problems-if only for a time-by making up tiny numbers to the rhythmic pulses of her surroundings.
