Copying Beethoven

On Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, a fictionalized biography. It's 1824. Beethoven is working on a new symphony. His last success was years ago, and he suffers from deafness, loneliness, and emotional anguish. The composer urgently needs a copyist. Anna Holtz, a young conservatory student and aspiring composer, is introduced as a fictional character. The volatile Beethoven is initially wary of Anna's involvement in his work, but he gradually gains confidence in her and grows fond of her. By the time the piece is performed, she is a necessity in his life. Her intimate knowledge of his work allows her to fix his errors, while her warm disposition allows her access to his personal life.
