After eight years in prison, an ex-convicted felon named "Marcus Julian" returns to an impoverished Chicago neighborhood. Marcus, like so many others in his society, was a product of a broken family system who operated under a brutal "street-code." The "Gangster Disciples" ruled the regions, and as a former prominent member, he was haunted by the mob-related activities that had led to his imprisonment.
