Call Me Lucky

CALLS ME LUCKY is an uplifting, triumphant, and wickedly funny documentary about one of comedy's most enigmatic and important figures, Barry Crimmins, a beer-swilling, politically outspoken, and whip-smart comic whose efforts in the 1970s and 1980s cultivated the talents of a whole new generation of standup comics. Nonetheless, beneath Crimmins' gruff, hard-drinking, curmudgeonly demeanor lurked an undercurrent of hatred resulting from his long-suppressed and brutal maltreatment as a child. This anger found its way out of the comedy clubs and television shows that he had been appearing in and into the political arena.
