On his way to Moscow, Chechen veteran Danila (Sergei Bodrov Jr.) runs with an old acquaintance named Konstantin, who informs him that his twin brother was forced to sign an illegal contract with the United States National Ice Hockey League (USNHL). Danila finds Konstantin's death shortly after this meeting, and he sets out on a trip to avenge his death, which takes him to Chicago, where he has a completely different experience.
