Brooklyn Castle

Brooklyn Castle is a documentary about I.S. 318, a low-income inner-city school with the nation's greatest junior high chess team. A team of 1800 would rank fifth best with Albert Einstein as the squad's 1800th member. Chess has turned a “school in need of improvement” into one of NYC's best. However, a series of recession-driven school budget cuts now threaten to undo those hard-won gains.
