Bridge of Spies

After shooting down Francis Gary Powers' U-2 espionage plane during the Cold War, the Soviet Union took him prisoner and held him for the duration of the conflict. After being found guilty and given a sentence of ten years in prison, Powers' last chance of freedom rests with a lawyer from New York named James Donovan, who was hired by a CIA agent to negotiate Powers' release. Donovan boards an aircraft bound for Berlin in the hopes of negotiating a prisoner swap that will result in the release of the young man. Rudolf Abel, the convicted spy whom Donovan defended in court, could be handed over to the Russians if everything goes according to plan.
