Ella Peterson works in the basement office of Susanswerphone, a phone answering service. She listens in on people's lives and adds some excitement to her own boring life by putting on different identities for her clients. They include an unemployed Method actor, a dentist who wants to be a musician, and playwright Jeffrey Moss, who has writer's block and needs a muse badly.
