When two souls come together, nothing can separate them. He lives a quiet life with his six-year old son Yuji (Akashi Takei) now that he has lost his wife and mother Mio (Yuko Takeuchi). Her promise to Yuji: "I'll be with you again in a year, when the rains come." Yuji always remembers her promise. They are walking in the woods on the first anniversary of her death. They come across a woman who is sheltering from the monsoon rain. She looks like Mio, but she has no idea who she is or what she is doing there. Family life picks up where they left off. Takumi and Mio's memories of their first meeting in high school come back to them. Then, Mio's old diary comes back to haunt them. It tells the truth about her past and how they'll have to part again in six weeks.
