Starting with a picture of a tour bus warming up its engine in the quiet of an empty lot, this haunting, personal portrait of music legend Levon Helm brings to mind a life spent on the road. Helm, a founding member of The Band, is at home in Woodstock making his first studio album in 25 years when Jacob Hatley's very personal documentary shows him. He has beaten drugs, bankruptcy, the bitter breakup of The Band, and throat cancer. He is the ultimate survivor, but as the title shows, he wasn't in it for his health.
