A 27-year-old woman, Ellie's life has taken her in a direction she never planned. Ellie's life is filled with irritating friends, a self-absorbed partner, and a career that she can't force herself to pursue. She feels disconnected from her surroundings. When she discovers that her estranged alcoholic father has passed away, her world is thrown into disarray, and she embarks on a trip that brings her to a little town in Texas.
