A Christmas Carol
During the night of Christmas Eve, Ebeneezer Scrooge, the miserly proprietor of an ancient counting house, is visited by the spirit of his deceased business partner Jacob Marley. Scrooge is warned by Marley that if he does not pay attention and learn from three ghosts who will visit him during the night, he would perish in the hereafter. Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future show Scrooge how his nasty, uncaring behavior has oppressed those around him as they visit scenes from his past, present, and future lives. By the end of the story, Scrooge has been humbled and redeemed, and he has transformed into a giving and kind-hearted individual.
