Guido Anselmi is at the top of his career as a film director, but he can't think of anything new to do. Anselmi's doctors tell him to rest, so he goes to a fancy resort. However, his producer, staff, actors, wife, mistress, and relatives all come to see him and beg him to get back to work on the show. He thinks about past women and dreams about his childhood to get away from their dependence.
