Yu-Gi-Oh! is a 1998 Japanese anime TV show made by Toei Animation and Bandai. It is based on chapters 1–59 of the same-named manga by Kazuki Takahashi. The series ran on TV Asahi between April 4, 1998, and October 10, 1998. On March 6, 1999, an animated film based on the series opened in Japanese theaters. The opening theme is "A Cry of Thirst" by Field of View, and the ending theme is "Even If You Break Tomorrow" by Wands. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, a different adaptation made by Nihon Ad Systems and Konami, began airing in 2000. Fans outside of Japan have called this series "Yu-Gi-Oh! Season Zero."
