Twelve to sixteen applicants with inadequate cooking abilities are put through an eight-week culinary boot camp in order to win a $25,000 cash prize. The recruits are instructed in fundamental cooking methods, such as baking, knife skills, temperature, seasoning, and preparation. The final task is to prepare a three-course meal of restaurant caliber for three culinary critics.
