The Philanthropist
The Philanthropist is an American action drama television series that debuted on NBC on June24, 2009. The show was a limited summer series shot mostly in South Africa. It began with good ratings but witnessed a dip in viewers in the following weeks. Carnival Films produced The Philanthropist in collaboration with The Levinson/Fontana Company and Original Media. Executive producers were Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson, Peter Horton, Charlie Corwin, Gareth Neame, and Teri Weinberg. NBC canceled the show on October 21, 2009. Attempts by fans to keep the show on the air via Facebook and a charitable initiative dubbed "Save The Philanthropist through Charity" were futile.
