The Newsroom
The Newsroom aired on CBC in1996–97,2003–04, and 2004–05. Escape from the Newsroom is a 2002 2-hour TV movie. The episode is set in the newsroom of a TV station that is never named but is assumed to be the CBC. Inspired by The Larry Sanders Show and akin to Drop the Dead Donkey and Frontline, the series dug a dark vein of humour from the station's regular broadcast, City Hour. The Newsroom's initial run of 13 episodes made it one of the most critically regarded shows on Canadian TV in the 1990s. Finkleman produced three short-run programs for the CBC after The Newsroom, including More Tears, Foolish Heart, and Foreign Objects.
