The Monkees
The Monkees is a situation comedy that was shown on NBC in the United States from September 1966 all the way through March 1968. The narrative of the series focuses on the exploits of four young guys as they strive to establish themselves as successful rock and roll singers. The program was honored with two Emmy Awards in 1967 and is credited for bringing a variety of novel new-wave film techniques to the medium of series television. The final episode of the show aired on Labor Day, 1968, marking the conclusion of its second season. However, the show has continued to air in syndication and on Saturday mornings, in addition to being televised internationally.
