The Dating Game

The Dating Game was the first of several series conceived and packaged by Chuck Barris from the 1960s to the 1980s. On July6,1973, ABC cancelled the show, although it was resurrected in syndication as The New Dating Game for another year. 1978–1980, 1986–1989, and 1996–1999. For years, it was virtually always broadcast in conjunction with another Barris creation, The Newlywed Game, which debuted on ABC the following year. The show paved the way for a slew of similar shows.
