The Great Race The game show Asia is based on the American show The Amazing Race. On October 17, 2005, CBS let other countries make their own versions of "The Amazing Race." One of the first to get the rights to make a version for its territories was the Asian cable TV network AXN Asia. ActiveTV, an Australian TV production company, makes the show for AXN and Buena Vista International Television-Asia Pacific. Allan Wu, a Chinese-American actor who lives in Singapore, is in charge of the show. The winner gets US$100,000, while the winner of the American show gets US$1,000,000. Ricky Ow, the general manager of SPE Networks-Asia, which runs AXN, explained the smaller prize by saying, "It's not really about the money. It's more about the adventure and the chance to be on one of the best reality shows in the world."
