Despite the well-intentioned efforts of her overly-protective father, Max, Sydney, who is now 13 years old, is rapidly maturing into an independent young woman. Max tries everything in his power to rein Sydney in and maintain her as his little girl in spite of the fact that she is making attempts to stretch her wings and make more decisions for herself. However, by doing so, he reminds his mother, Judy, of his own shenanigans when he was Sydney's age. The similarities, which are emphasized through humorous flashback scenes starring a younger Max, are not only funny but also illuminating.
