Shindig! was an ABC musical variety show that ran from September 16, 1964, to January 8, 1966. Jimmy O'Neill, a disc jockey in Los Angeles at the time, hosted the show, which he also co-created with his wife Sharon Sheeley and production executive Art Stolnitz. After ABC rejected the first pilot, David Sontag, then the Executive Producer of ABC, reworked and entirely overhauled the show. Sam Cooke starred in a fresh pilot with a new group of artists. The pilot was shown as the first episode.
