In 2019, Kaito Yashio and Akiho Senomiya are the only members of Central Tanegashima High School's Robotics Club in Kyushu, Japan. Kaito is a laid-back student and great gamer who is simply trying to help his childhood friend Akiho. She is a lively, positive-thinking young lady who longs to finish the club's ongoing project of constructing a functional duplicate of Gunvarrel, the main robot from a once-popular TV series. As they recruit additional recruits and attempt to assemble the robot, Kaito discovers confidential reports that may reveal a massive conspiracy. Unaware of what he is up against, Kaito gradually begins to uncover evidence left by the mysterious Ko Kimijima.
