A treacherous pirate king named Gol D. Roger was put to death many years ago, and after his death, he abandoned a massive hoard of wealth as well as the well-known "One Piece." The title of "Pirate King" will be bestowed upon the person who successfully retrieves the "One Piece." Monkey D. Luffy, a little boy who has eaten one of the "Devil's Fruits," has it in his head that he would find the One Piece just like his hero, the pirate Shanks. Shanks is a figure who Monkey D. Luffy looks up to. It is to his advantage, of course, since his body possesses the qualities of rubber, and he is surrounded by a multitude of excellent fighters and thieves who are there to assist him along the road. Monkey D. Luffy leads the way, accompanied by other members of his crew, including Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Tony-Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, Franky, and Brook. They will stop at nothing in their quest to obtain the One Piece and take their rightful place as King of the Pirates.
