Lee David Zlotoff's MacGyver is an American action-adventure television series. The executive producers were Henry Winkler and John Rich. From 1985 until1992, the show aired on ABC in the United States and other networks internationally for seven seasons. Seasons 1–2 and 7 were shot in Los Angeles, whereas seasons 3–6 were shot in Vancouver. The final episode of the sitcom aired on April 25, 1992, on ABC. Episodes The show revolves around secret agent Angus MacGyver, played by Richard Dean Anderson, who works as a troubleshooter for the fictional Phoenix Foundation in Los Angeles and as an agent for the Department of External Services, a fictional United States government agency. During the Vietnam War, MacGyer, a physicist by training, worked as a Bomb Team Technician/EOD. He solves complex problems with everyday things he finds on hand, as well as his ever-present duct tape and Swiss Army knife, thanks to his resourcefulness and encyclopedic understanding of the physical sciences. He prefers nonviolent solutions and avoids using a gun unless absolutely necessary.
