Joan Girardi has been acting strangely since her family relocated to Arcadia. Nobody is aware that several persons keep announcing themselves as God and then giving the teenager precise instructions. Joan gingerly begins to follow God's enigmatic directions, all the while attempting to maintain a "normal" teen-aged living, unsure of what God wants or if she is even sane.
