Icons was a documentary TV show on G4 that looked at important people, companies, products, events, and historical moments in the world of video games. When it came back in 2006, it was all about pop culture. Soon afterward, it was stopped. On May 10, 2006, it was announced that Icons would return on June 3 with an episode about J.J. Abrams. The show will show more of what "men 18–34 care about, look up to, and try to be like." Marc Ecko, The Onion, and Family Guy would be the focus of episodes to come. The recent episodes about George A. Romero, Frank Miller, and the history of the King Kong franchise hinted at this change. The classic video game-themed episodes kept airing on the network off and on until 2008, when they got a new name: Game Makers.
