In the Canadian North, Buffalo primarily operates WWII-era propeller planes all year. On November18,2009, the show debuted. Filming wrapped on August2,2010, and the show was renewed for a second season. On January12,2011, History Television broadcasted the season opener. Season 3 was officially approved on August18,2010, and premiered on October12, 2011. Series 2 premiered on Quest in the UK in May 2011. In the United Kingdom, the Discovery Channel broadcasted the season 4 episodes. On April22,2011, the first season of Ice Pilots debuted on the National Geographic Channel in the United States. Seasons 1 and 2 broadcast on National Geographic Channel and National Geographic Channel HD in Australia, and Season 3 is presently airing on 7 Mate, a digital channel. Ice Pilots was added to The Weather Channel's primetime schedule on February2, 2012. The Weather Channel premiered seasons 1 and 2 of the show on March5, 2012. The show is no longer regularly carried on the National Geographic Channel, but it does screen episodes on occasion.
