The American sitcom I Dream of Jeannie has a fantastical premise. The show stars Barbara Eden as a 2,000-year-old genie and Larry Hagman as an astronaut who becomes her master, falls in love with her, and she eventually marries him. Produced by Screen Gems, the sitcom initially ran on NBC from September 1965 to May 1970 with original episodes, then from September 1970 to September 1970 with season repeats. 139 episodes were produced over the course of five seasons. There were thirty black-and-white episodes in the inaugural season.
