Former juvenile offender Kohei Kuryu drops out of junior high school and earns a high school equivalency diploma. After clearing the bar examinations, Kuryu is appointed as a prosecutor. Kuryu is not a conventional prosecutor, as is evident from the clothes he wears, and he possesses street-born instincts and a kind of intelligence that only someone reared on the streets could have. Maiko Amamiya is a clever public prosecutor who has her sights set on passing the exam to become an assistant public prosecutor and strives to get her boss's attention. Kuryu, on the other hand, is transferred to Amamiya's division and finally considers the possibility of a promotion after gaining a reputation for performing outstanding work. Unfortunately, his unusual work conduct unexpectedly halts operations.
