Glitter is a drama series that was produced for American television and aired on the ABC network during the 1984–1985 season. The series was produced by Aaron Spelling and took place behind the scenes of a leading entertainment magazine called "Glitter." It attempted to combine the seriousness of journalism and business politics with the glamorous lifestyles of the rich and famous that were featured in the pages of the magazine. The three most prominent members of the cast were David Birney, Morgan Brittany, and Arthur Hill. The format of the series was comparable to that of two other successful ABC shows that Aaron Spelling also produced, namely The Love Boat and Hotel, in the sense that each episode prominently featured high-profile guest appearances from famous celebrities, such as Ginger Rogers and Cyd Charisse, among others. Glitter did not fare as well in the ratings compared to the other series. The show was then pulled off the air until December1984, when three more episodes were shown, making the total number of episodes that had aired up to that point nine. The ratings did not improve, so the series was ended as a result. As part of ABC's late-night programming in December1985, the final eight episodes of the series were broadcast. Glitter was distributed in several countries, despite the fact that it was not a commercial success in the United States. It was broadcast in the summer of 1985 on BBC1 in the United Kingdom.
