Between 2000 and 2002, the Sci-Fi Channel ran a short-film centered science-fiction anthology series called Exposure. Exposure Studios was born from the series, which featured short sci-fi films by both unknown and well-known filmmakers. The films, which were hosted by actress Lisa Marie, covered a wide range of science fiction topics. The show was canceled in the fall of 2002 due to weak ratings. The series debuted on Sundays at 10:00 p.m. EST and was repeated the following Saturday at 2:00 a.m. EST; later, the schedule was changed to 11:00 p.m. EST and was still rerun the next Saturday far after Midnight, which is likely one of the reasons for the show's dismal ratings. Two guests hosted the show. The "Best of Season One" episode would be hosted by Terry Farrell, and the "Star Wars Short Films Showcase" would be presented by Kevin Smith. The Sci-Fi Channel had also negotiated an agreement with Atom Films, giving them broadcast rights to any of Atom Films' new science-fiction purchases, as well as any science-fiction films presently in their library, for Exposure.
