Doraemon
Because Nobita Nobi is such an inept individual, his descendants in the 22nd century are still living in abject poverty as a direct result of his incompetence in the 20th century. The household servant, a robotic cat by the name of Doraemon, has the idea to go back in time and instruct Nobita on the right way to amass wealth so that the family's standing in the community can improve. Unfortunately, Doraemon, a malfunctioning robot that the family obtained by accident (but elected to retain anyhow), isn't in all that much better of a situation than Nobita is. Nobita's life is unquestionably made more interesting by the presence of the robot cat from the future, but it is debatable whether or not it is improved in the manner that Doraemon had envisioned. The robot cat from the future leads Nobita on a number of fascinating adventures.
