The series is a prequel, showing Flint Lockwood, the strange young scientist from the movies, in high school. Sam Sparks, a new girl in town who wants to be a reporter, will join him on his adventures. So will Flint's dad Tim, Steve the Monkey, Manny as the head of the school's audiovisual club, Earl as a school gym teacher, Brent as a baby wear model, and Mayor Shelbourne, who always wins elections by supporting sardines.
