BBC Children in Need is the UK charity of the BBC. Since 1980, approximately £600 million has been raised to improve the lives of disabled children and young adults in the United Kingdom. An annual telethon held in November and broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD from 7:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. is one of the highlights. The BBC Children in Need mascot is Pudsey Bear, while Terry Wogan is a veteran host. BBC Children in Need is one of three prominent British telethons, but the only one associated with the BBC. The other two telethons, Red Nose Day and Sport Relief, both benefit Comic Relief. The 2012 appeal was held on November 16, 2012.
