Disney-ABC Domestic Television's movie review show At the Movies featured two film critics giving their thoughts on recently released films. The show went by a number of different names during its run on television. Originally, the show was hosted by Chicago Sun-Times and WLS-TV reporter Roger Ebert and Chicago Tribune and WBBM-TV reporter Gene Siskel. After Siskel's death in 1999, Richard Roeper of the Sun-Times became Ebert's regular collaborator. Guest hosts filled in for Ebert when he took a leave of absence from the show in 2006 because of thyroid cancer treatment, It was cohosted by the Chicago Tribune from April to August of 2008 by Michael Phillips. E! Entertainment Television film critic Ben Lyons and Sirius Satellite Radio personality and former co-host of The Young Turks and current Turner Classic Movies show Ben Mankiewicz took over as hosts starting September 6, 2008. September5,2009, was announced as the date for the return of Michael Phillips and A. O. Scott, both of the New York Times film critics. With Siskel and Ebert as hosts, the show received seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations and one for Outstanding Information Series, the latest of which was given in 1997. Review summaries with "thumbs up/thumbs down" from Siskel and Ebert were well-known. ReelzChannel also showed the show throughout the week, as well as in syndication in the United States and Canada.
