Amanda's is an American sitcom based on the 1970s British sitcom Fawlty Towers. Amanda's broadcast on ABC on Thursday nights at 8:30 from 10 February 1983 until 26 May 1983. Amanda Cartwright, played by Bea Arthur, was the primary character. Amanda owned "Amanda's by the Sea," a beachside hotel staffed by her son Marty, his selfish wife Arlene, Earl the chef, and Aldo the bellhop. This was Bea Arthur's first comeback to series television since Maude ended in 1978. Other celebrities who appeared on Amanda's included Jerry Stiller, Leonard Stone, and Todd Susman. The show was shot in front of a live studio audience at ABC Studios, 4151 Prospect Avenue in Hollywood, California. Amanda's was cancelled in May 1983 following a four-month run of 10 episodes, with ABC airing three additional episodes. Shortly afterwards, the A&E network aired reruns of the show.
