Aladdin is a Walt Disney Television animated television series that aired from 1994 to 1995, based on the original 1992 film. Slightly Offbeat Productions Studios in Penrose, Auckland, New Zealand, created the animation. The series followed up where the direct-to-video sequel The Return of Jafar left off, with Aladdin now living in the castle and engaged to the lovely and spirited Princess Jasmine. "Al" and Jasmine ventured into danger with sorcerers, monsters, robbers, and others. The animated Magic Carpet, the fast-talking, shape-shifting Genie, and sarcastic, complaining parrot Iago, originally Jafar's pet but now an antihero, all came along to help. Jafar, who was previously destroyed in the second film, reappears in only one episode, which also acts as a crossover with Hercules: The Animated Series. With the noteworthy exception of Dan Castellaneta, who filled in for Robin Williams in the Genie role, many of the film's stars performed the voices of their TV equivalents. This series, unlike The Little Mermaid spinoff series, lacks musical sequences. The show originally aired on the syndicated The Disney Afternoon block and on CBS on Saturday mornings. In the late 1990s, Disney Channel reran the series until it was replaced by their pre-teen lineup. The show was later featured on Toon Disney, however it has since been removed.
