A Football Life is a documentary series produced by NFL Films and broadcast on NFL Network that follows the lives of various National Football League players, coaches, owners, and teams. Interviews are conducted with the subjects' friends, teammates, family members, and other athletes and coaches. The series' title was inspired by a comment from NFL Films' Steve Sabol: It began as an NFL Network special about Bill Parcells' career in November2010, and debuted as an episodic series on September15,2011, with the first installment of Bill Belichick's documentary. The documentary was viewed by around 657,000 viewers, making it the most-watched documentary in NFL Network history, and it was the second-most watched show in Boston at the time, trailing only a Boston Red Sox game with 151,000 viewers. Season One was finally made available on DVD. Season Two premiered on September 12, 2012, with The Faces of Tebow. For Belichick's episode in 2012, the series received Emmy nominations for "Outstanding Edited Sports Series/Anthology" and "Outstanding Promotional Announcement - Episodic."
