There's a summer in 1945, for example. For the eight children rescued from the Gross-Rosen concentration camp, a temporary orphanage was set up in an abandoned palace surrounded by forests. Former convict Hanka takes on the role of guardian for the two children. After the horrors of the camp, the characters begin to recall some of their childhood memories, but the horror returns swiftly. In the surrounding woods, Camp Alsatians are at large. Their feral state is a result of their earlier release by the SS. They storm the palace in search of food. Fear grips the campers as they scramble to stay alive.
