Tokyo is currently having rain showers, which appear to be disrupting the normal pace of everyone who lives there to no end. In the midst of this seemingly endless downpour, Hodaka Morishima, a runaway high school student, arrives, struggling to sustain himself and eventually landing a work at a small-time publisher. Simultaneously, orphaned Hina Amano seeks jobs to support herself and her younger brother. When Hodaka tries to save Hina from unscrupulous individuals, they decide to flee together.
